The City of Jackson Electric Department provides electric services to residential and commercial customers throughout the city. The system maintains 65 miles of power lines. Jackson receives its power from the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG) through this association the department has full access to the Georgia Integrated Transmission System (ITS) and can serve customers throughout the state. Jackson Electric Department is also an active member of the Electric Cities of Georgia.

Customers choosing to partner with Jackson Electric Department as their electric supplier will be provided ample power at a competitive rate. Jackson Electric Department may bid on providing electric service to large users outside its electric territory if the customers load is greater than 900 kilowatts. The City of Jackson has operated its distribution system since 1907. Currently, the City services approximately 1,200 residential customers and 400 commercial customers. The system has grown and continues to grow at an astonishing rate.
